Inspiration

Inspiration for me can come from anything. My 5 year old son often inspires me when he says things like ‘I don’t want you to go to work today’ or ‘I like it when you have a day off’. I can look at a run down building and find myself imagining what it would be like to restore or renovate it. The point it is you need to find out what it is that inspires you to do things and surround yourself with it. It is all to easy to loose your way and forget why it is your doing the things you do.

• You’ve clicked through from one of my tweets (a possibility but I only have 100 or so followers at the moment)
• You’ve typed in the domain name because you want to buy it for an obscene amount of money (unlikely but still possible… £100,000 if you’re interested)
• A Google search brought you here. (please let me know what page of your search is on, I’d love to know how well or badly we are doing)

So now I have your attention let me tell what BucketLoadOfCash.com is all about. To put it simply it’s to make me as much money as possible, and yes I am being serious. It’s an experiment really to see how much money I can make from one website without spending anything more than my time populating and promoting it,  and £8.99 for the domain name. The content of the site is all about making money. That can be from business ideas to inventions, websites about making money to websites that make you money.

So what’s in it for you I hear you ask. Well hopefully some inspiration to go out and fulfil your ideas and aspirations. Resources to give you a starting point to move forward with one of your projects. The opportunity to contribute and share ideas with like minded individuals. Who know’s where this is going to lead? I certainly have no idea right now!

Why I Made This Site!

There are several reasons why I made this site. Firstly I’ve always felt that the internet will be the place that I make living and in part, over the past 14 years that has been true. I was given a computer by a good friend, Adam Tait when he decided to move to Barcelona with his now wife and he didn’t need the excess baggage of computer. So the first thing I did was buy a 56kbps modem and joined the internet revolution. A work colleague of mine at the time had been put in charge of developing an online store for Music Connections and I was intrigued by this for 2 reasons; 1 I had always enjoyed graphic design and 2 I could see an amazing opportunity to develop an online business. So I got myself a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks and set to work. The year was 1998 and the internet was still in it’s infancy but there was a lot of talk and a real buzz about it.

The first idea I had came about when I was trying to find a dentist, and having recently discovered the joys of the internet I set about trying to find a dentist online, and granted there were a few to be found, however these were incredibly expensive private practises, which is what spawned the idea of FindMeADentist.co.uk An online website that would host any dental practice that wished to have a presence on the web. Now bear in mind at the time websites were expensive and having a website at that time wasn’t deemed to be most businesses priority. So we decided to offer a single webpage with a listing on the site for £75 per annum. Now you may think what a fantastic idea, and I agree it was. Let me tell you what happened next.

Well what happened next can only be described as delusions of grandeur. After a night out with friends and a bottle of Jack I thought well why stop at Dentists? How about Plumbers, Sparkies, Builders, Cleaners etc etc. So I registered findmea.net with the vision this would be the place to find whatever you want. Sound familiar? Although Google had launched, at the time they were an internet search engine. So, I had a great idea and that was it. My dad still believes to this day that was my greatest idea and believe when I say my dad has heard a lot of ideas from me and been very happy to help me peruse those ideas, so this site is in part dedicated to him and will hopefully allow him to recoup his investments!

The second reason for starting this site is to share what I’m about to find out, some of the ideas I have and hopefully get you guys to share how you have made money from the internet. You hear about people making thousands, tens of thousands, even millions online. Well I’d like to find out how they do it or are they just full of something or not even real people.

Thirdly it’s a bit of an experiment really. Can a single site really make me a living. Well so far my earnings from this site have been about 10p but I haven’t really got started so lets see how we go. Each month the total amount earned from the site and the last months earnings will be published in the top right hand column.
